Teaching HS Social Studies at our school strives to provide quality arts integration including learning “through” and “with” the arts, arts integration as a curricular connections process, and arts integration as collaborative engagement. Research suggests that arts integrated projects are experiential, representational, presentational, operational, observational, historical and cultural. The Arts can serve as an excellent vehicle for looking at issues of community activism, social justice, and individual integrity. Social Studies offer a multitude of opportunities for art inclusion such as flag design (Geography), visual timelines (U.S. History), game development (World History), and designing commercials (Economics).
